Highlighting the narratives of young trans athletes is crucial in advocating for their rights. It humanizes them, amplifies their voices, and allows them to be seen as kids rather than political subjects. As part of our guerrilla campaign during the All Star Weekend, we engaged with 11 young trans athletes from across the country. They shared their love for sports, discussed the sense of community, friendships, acquired skills, and more. Through a visual celebration using collage and photography, we projected their stories outside the arena.
Our objective was clear: challenge lawmakers, Utah citizens, and All-Star Weekend attendees with a straightforward message—Don't play scared.
The visual approach struck a balance, portraying the youthfulness and the role of these children while maintaining a serious tone to emphasize the gravity of these issues for the future of trans kids.
